The Beach
Below the main restaurant sits the Porthgwidden Take Away & Bar. Enjoy alfresco dining from our wooden benches just up from the beach itself with quick and easy access to the Beach Shop, where you can find everything you need to transform your day at the beach from buckets and spades to creamy Cornish Ice Cream.
The Takeaway & Bar and Beach Shop are subject to seasonal opening times and may not be open all year around.
Dogs
Dogs are most welcome outside our takeaway as well as on the covered terrace area of our café however due to a council ban, dogs are not allowed on the sand between the 1st July and 31st August this year. Please note that within this time period, responsible dog owners are still permitted on the beach with their four-legged friends before 10am and after 6pm
Litter
There are bins provided across the beach. We also provide recycling bins to encourage our visitors to not only keep the beaches clean but to help the environment as well.
Beach Safety
Porthgwidden Beach is directly overlooked by the St Ives National Coast Guard Institute station which is manned 365 days a year. It is safe for swimming between the headlands and in the summer months, a line of buoys mark the safe bathing area. There are a number of safety notices located around the perimeter of the beach with Lifebuoys and important Beach Safety Information.
The RNLI has a page on their website about beach safety: rnli.org/safety if you would like more information.
