Nestled beneath the steep grassy slopes of St Ives “Island”, right on the beach with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Now open all year round.

Holidaying in St Ives is all about going to the beach, no matter what time of year. Here at Porthgwidden Beach we have one of the cleanest beaches in the South West.  We have been given the prestigious Blue Flag Award which guarantees the highest of standards.

The Porthgwidden Cafe is open during the day all year round, serving a selection of patisserie and the finest ground coffee. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

In the evening the Café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty. To avoid disappointment please check the opening times during the winter and during the summer you will need to book.

Porthminster Cookbook

This limited edition cookbook showcases signature recipes from Mick Smith, Executive Chef of the Porthminster Collection (Porthminster Beach Café, Porthminster Kitchen & Porthgwidden Beach Café). Dishes including the famous Monkfish Curry, Sea Bass with Crab Fritters and Chilli Ponzu, and Deconstructed Pimms, can all now be recreated at home.

 

 

Featuring many beautiful images, the cookbook is also a food love story all about our location here in St Ives. From fish freshly-hauled from the bay, to foraged finds on the coast path, the recipes all take their lead from the fabulous surroundings we share with our sister restaurants. Beach Safety

Porthgwidden Beach as a number of notices located around its perimeter with Lifebuoys and Beach Safety Information. It is also overlooked by the St Ives NCI Station which is manned 365 days a year.

Ethos & Sustainability

Here at Porthgwidden, we aim to recycle as much as possible to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill sites. We encourage those who visit the café to do their bit towards maintaining the natural beauty of the beach itself, there are recycling bins available across the beach to enable visitors to recycle any waste they may have.
